OLD LADY BLOGGER TACKLES SOCIAL NETWORKING WITH MIXED RESULTS !!!! VIRTUALCHRISTINE SORT OF ON FACEBOOK!!! MINI ALBUMS!!! USEFUL TIPS!! TINY POSTS!!! FREEBIES!!! MORE PERSONAL INFO THAN YOU PROBABLY WANT!!! ATTN NEWBIES!!!

Greetings and Salutations! I just wanted to point out that the first part of this post is the often hair raising account of one bloggers descent  into the murky  labyrinth of social networking , that leads up to how I “sort of ” have a Facebook pageup and running. If your nerves aren’t up to it, and I know mine weren´t, just skip a couple of paragraphs down to the Virtualchristine Facebook Link, and start snagging tons of freebies and great little travel tips! If you plan to forge ahead………..

And so went  my initial attempt to get a Facebook Page up and running.  I had noticed there is a slight learning curve. As my arms gradually stop flapping and I come down off the back of the sofa, I realize I just need to breath slowly and do some googling. It´s only Facebook, for heaven´s sake- whole populaces for whom AAA batteries were the pinnacle of the last millenium are on it. Really, how hard could it actually  be?

The timeless  wisdom of the Black Adder once again allows us to frame the moment perfectly, “It rhymes with clucking bell.” This blogger is well and truly clucked. The entire clucking internet is ripping the living bell out of these motherclucking Facebook Pages, which are apparently a  new fangled thing not one clucking person in the English, German or Portuguese speaking worlds seems to really understand. Cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck. Cluck.

Hello my dearest dears, how marvelous! Here we all are again ready for another whirlwind adventure on OpenSim, the open source software platform that hosts hundreds of independent worlds, many of which are connected by an amped up teleportation system called the hypergrid. So with a simple mouse click, you can explore this endlessly fascinating virtual frontier, making new friends and snagging cool freebies until you are terrified to open your inventory without clutching a really massive glass of Rioja… Sorry; I’m starting drift. Cracking Facebook made for a hectic week, and although those little Mark Zuckerberg dolls did motivate me to finally hunt out Grandma’s collection of hat pins, I would have much preferred  to spend my precious free time, out there in the great wide yonder with all of you.

But perhaps it was worth it. I think I finally have a Facebook Page for Virtualchristine up and running. Here´s the thing: I always have pictures and notes from trips I make that are interesting, but for one reason or another just don’t pan out into full posts. So,  I have uploaded a mini post telling you where to get hundreds of  Linda Kellie’s(hugs) marvelous free items inworld; a mini tour of  Elvensong, one  of 50 regions belonging to Inworldz  charming and very talented Elven Clan. And a small album of my  evolution in Second Life. There is also biographical information, and   me typing “What the cluck does this button do?” in various forms all over the place. If anybody understands Facebook better than I do, which is everybody and their gerbil,  and has any ideas they would like to share, I would really appreciate it. Oh, and with this new page layout a minimum of 30 people have to “Like” me or Facebook won´t give me a bunch of features I don’t really understand, but probably need in the long run. Here is the link to VIRTUAL CHRISTINES FACEBOOK PAGE .

Oh, and  if you hunted me out hoping to get on OpenSim and the Hypergrid, please read my “How to Get on OpenSim in Six Easy Steps” page at the top of this blog! And don´t forget my Newbie Glossary also up top ! I´ll see you out there!

Thank you all so much for bearing with me! Once again your company has meant the world to me; and if no one shows up on the Facebook Page, I will take it as a signal from my beloved readers, and just drop the whole darned  thing! No problem. And I was joking about the Zuckerberg dolls; my grandmother didn´t wear hats. The sweetest of dreams, the best of health and the brightest of days to you all! Until next time, Adieu

  1. Ener Hax says:

=D your posts always make me smile and place life into perspective – thank you =)

  2. It’s not that I’m not interested… it’s that Facebook makes a point of being avatar-hostile. (They figure they can’t sell data from avatars to advertisers. It’s perversely funny, considering all the people who create accounts for their pets so they can run up their [insert Zynga game name here] scores, but that’s the way it is.) Google+ has finally come down in favor of us, it seems, and I’m there. Show up on Google+ and I’ll follow you in a heartbeat.

    • NOW you tell me this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Melissa, Melissa, Melissa. Visited your blog, and asin RL I have one real jug that looks like a train yard with a nipple sewn on, and a half hooter implant with Martian Canal level scars and no nipple at all, means that your avatar doesn’t really appear that odd to me. Loved all the boobie talk!
