Juju and I enjoying our fantastic improved graphics quality at an exhibition in the experimental area for scientific visualization at WASP at the University of Western Australia, in the region WASP LAND. It is amazing- Come on! Rev up your graphics and drop by.
Hello my dearest dears ! Welcome to another virtualchristine techno tip! Today´s little gem is about ANTIALIASING ! “Oh God .” ( or what/whoever you appeal to when death by boredom is looming) you all groan inwardly. “Five syllables. This is going to suck.” I knew you would react that way , which is why I left it out of the title. Be calm, my beloved readers, for virtualchristine, Techno Queen, has this freaking thing so simplified you can probably do it with a buzz from whatever you ingest when what/whoever you appeal to when death by boredom looms is really, really, really, unresponsive. 7 right clicks. I have pictures. With numbered arrows. It´ll take three minutes, and you will LOVE the results.
Now, let´s literally break it down. Anti is a prefix meaning against, and aliasing is nerd for those jagged edges you get with computer generated images. That´s it. You can have a look at the SL WIKI ANTIALIASING which is dated, but fun if you can´t get enough of really big words. Or you can just follow these 7 simple steps and get a much sharper picture.

Now you are in the HARDWARE window! 1. Right click the empty square to the right of the word Filtering: next to the words Anisotropic Filtering(slower when enabled). If you care, anisotropic is a texture filter that allows you to antialiase. A white check should appear. 2. Go to the menu bar to the right of Antialiasing: to the left of ( requires viewer restart) right click the bar which probably says" disabled" 2X,4X , 8X, and 16X will appear in a drop down menu. Torley Linden(see my Linden post), advises us to use 4X, so right click that. Now go to the far right corner, and right click OK!
I did not have to restart my browser to see the effect. My picture was immediately much sharper and more vivid. The SL Wiki , as well as the hardware window, warns us that enabling these two things can really slow you down. With all my graphics settings on low, I am pretty much okay at 8X, always fine at 4X. I used to panic everytime I went somewhere and my picture got laggy, I would immediatly disable everything; it never made a difference. It was always the region, not my settings. I am not sure what kind of graphics hardware I have, but my computer is just a little generic laptop I got last Xmas, nothing souped up or fancy. So I would think most of you would be just fine!
Thus endeth another virtualchristine techno tip. I hope it improves your Second Life in some way. Thank you all so very very much for taking the time to read my blog, I do not have the words in any language to quite express how much your company means on this journey. Until next time my beloved readers, the best of health, the sweetest of dreams, and the brightest of days to each and every one of you. Adeiu, Adieu!
