A VIRTUALCHRISTINE FANTABULOUS TRAVEL TIP:Folkvang Norse Home of the Viking Goddess Freja & her Valkyries

Okay, the title is too long, but this sim is the most fun I have had without freebies for a while now. Look this thing up on the Second Life destination guide and teleport. You wind up here-

This is very clearly marked teleport area is in the middle of a norse themed market where there are NO FREEBIES- I looked.

I  teleported to the DWARF CAVES because I have a thing about Dwarfs. Wanna make something of it? Anyway, I got distracted initially at the caves by a Norsepunk balloon ride which went on for a good  fifteen minutes and had a terrific narrative

I am a sucker for a tour in SL, and this was a nice long one, with lots of stops and options to disembark.

and kept offering to let me off  for  ANOTHER  tour, by train, cart, boat, just fantastic!

The castle belongs to a Lady Inventor named Janet, who is apparently the brains behind this sim.  The castle houses a showroom of her works, complete and in progress.

What makes Janet 100% a woman after my own heart, is the naming of this sim island Shalott, after the poem  The Lady of Shalott. I was a big poetry reader even as a young girl,  and this particular poem was my prepubescent mantra. I was ecstatic to meet a fellow traveller. After a very satisfactory  tour, I finally hit the caves

Like the tour, the caves were large and had alot of detail.
In a Dwarven Hall….
Having a blast in the foundry.

When you finally make it through the mine , you ” find” an elven boat

This ride is genuinely lovely
The entire time there is a narration of a creation myth. Kudos Janet!
Snow gives way to fire and lava…

and I won´t spoil what comes next. This was only one area of a huge G rated sim. I intend to go back , but I think it will take a few visits to do it properly. Did I mention Freya´s Quest, and the Boar Hunt? And don´t get too excited about the freebie area. It´s four boxes of plants. I cannot belive the time! I must sleep now, my sweet readers. Thank you for joining me, I know you are there, my trusty tracker touches every one of you and I am delighted! Marvelous dreams and dazzling days to you all!!

  1. Thanks for visiting our sim. I have to say that what has made it so beautiful is the work of NightShade Fugu and Dizzi Sternberg. They make things lovely, I just help make them move.

We work as a team and their artistry far exceeds mine.

We’re glad you liked the place and there is much more to find. Enjoy!

  2. Dizzi Sternberg says:

Thank you for the lovely comments about our sim :)

Oh and if you seek some freebies try Freja’s quest, there are some great quality items to be found among her treasure :)
